What is goal number 10 about?

Goal number ten is about social equality. Social equality means creating the same opportunities for everyone. Everybody should share in the same civil rights, freedom of speech, property rights and equal access to social goods and services.


What type of inequality does this goal refer to?

There are many different types of inequality in the world. Inequality based on age, income, gender, disabilities, sexual orientation, religion, classes and general differences in opportunities, to mention some. While goal number five is about gender inequality, goal number 10 refers to financial inequality. It’s about the inequalities that people face because they belong to a marginalized group.


What is the purpose of the goal?

The purpose of the goal is to ensure that all people have equal opportunities and access to nutrition, education and employement. People will need to be invested in from when they are born. This is the foundation of a prosperous society.


How is this relevant as a sustainable goal?

We can not achieve sustainable development if we exclude parts of the population. In today's world we are all interconnected, global inequality affects everyone. We need to reduce inequality in the world and make our society more inclusive. Inequalities cuts across all of the sustainable development goals.
